Well I have used plain baking soda before but found it too harsh on my teeth. I like the mixture with coconut oil and baking soda because it feels nice on the teeth and the gums. From using it for nearly two years I find it as an excellent tooth whitener, and I know the coconut oil's anti-bacterial properties work wonders on bacteria/bad breath. I'm not sure about plaque because I do not have any. I do know that most times if the gums are receding it is not because of over brushing or gum issues but rather the bone structure under the gums are in critical need of mineral supplementation. I believe Dr. Wallach speaks of how the gums will grow back when one is consuming enough minerals.

My wife had gotten us both starting to use baking soda mixed with some herbs (the names are escaping me at this time) for gums. I was wandering what you experiences have been with this recipe?
